Odpowiedź „interesować to może i interesuje mnie, ale nie mam na zbyciu siedmiu quidów” jest uznana za dopuszczającą, ale z postawą „Stanisław Lem? A kogo to obchodzi!” nie należy się na tym blogu obnosić.

Moim prywatnym numerem jeden jest opowiadanie Iana Watsona „The Tale of Trurl and the Great TanGent”, zgrabnie imitujące klimat „Cyberiady”, wliczając w tym Nieprzekładalne Gry Słów, które tym razem byłyby wyzwaniem dla tłumacza przekładającego to z angielkiego na polski. Tytułowy „TanGent” to np. jednocześnie „styczna”, skrót od „łagodnej opalenizny” i imię cybertyrana, niewolącego dziesięć cudnej urody cyberdziewic.

Uroczy jest też pastisz Philipa Dicka w wykonaniu Trevora Hoyle, który w opowiadaniu „The 5-Sigma Certainty” opisuje amerykańskiego dziennikarza, który w 1981 jedzie za Żelazną Kurtynę, by rozwikłać zagadkę organizacji SLEM („Sovietski Litteratur for Effective Manipulation”).

W tomiku znalazło się też opowiadanie „Stanlemian” Jorsa Truliego, którego tytuł mętnie odwołuje się do opozycji Dick/Lem („stanlemian”, as opposed to „phildickian” – get it?). Rzadko piszę opowiadania, bo świat ma tyleż za dużo kiepskiej prozy, co ja mam za mało środków płatniczych na koncie. Pokusa zadebiutowania w angielskim przekładzie (dzięki dla Danusi Stok!) była jednak zbyt silna, spóźniłem parę dedlajnów i wyprodukowałem opowiadanko w hołdzie Lemowi.
